Innoviris’ commitment
Innoviris also reflects on its own practices and is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at improving equity, integrity and accountability within its own operations, as well as promoting best practice initiatives.
Ethics Circle
Established in 2022, the Ethics Circle brings together staff from various departments within Innoviris: Human Resources, Legal and the Scientific Department. The members come from a variety of backgrounds and cover fields such as the sciences, the humanities and social sciences, law, and more.
It provides an open forum for discussion and collective reflection, enabling the identification and exploration of the various ethical dimensions the institute may face internally or in its external activities.
Among its achievements, the Ethics Circle has notably developed a methodological guide for identifying and assessing ethical issues in R&D&I projects. This guide serves as a reference tool for raising awareness and training scientific advisors.
The Ethics Circle is also behind Innoviris’s internal code of conduct.
It also organises training and awareness-raising initiatives on ethical issues, aimed at strengthening advisers’ skills and supporting them in assessing the ethical issues in their projects.
As project evaluation must ensure fairness and objectivity, Innoviris raises awareness among all those involved in this process (whether internal staff or external experts) of the mechanisms of unconscious bias, so that each project is assessed impartially. (video and poster)
