Innoviris awards over €830,000 in funding to 17 innovative generative AI projects
Innoviris is pleased to announce the approval of 17 generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) projects led by Brussels-based companies, with total public funding exceeding €830,000. These projects were selected from 43 proposals submitted under the GENAI call and reflect the strong innovation potential and digital ambitions of Brussels SMEs.
Strategic support for Brussels SMEs
With support from the Brussels-Capital Region, Innoviris is enabling local SMEs to explore the practical potential of generative AI—technology capable of creating new solutions or content from existing data. This emerging field holds vast economic promise, helping companies optimise processes, accelerate innovation and develop new products or services.
Public funding allows companies to overcome the often significant barriers to entry and begin implementing this powerful technology in real-world settings.
High-impact, real-world applications
The 17 selected projects span a wide range of sectors and applications, including:
- improved medical image analysis,
- optimisation of urban mobility and logistics,
- smart maintenance systems for industry,
- and advanced tools for customer relationship management.
These projects will strengthen the competitiveness of the participating companies, while also contributing to employment and supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and digital economy in the Brussels Region.
GENAI: a cornerstone of a coherent AI strategy
The GENAI programme is part of Innoviris’ broader strategy for artificial intelligence, which is built on five key pillars:
- fostering research excellence,
- supporting SME digital transformation,
- improving access to technological infrastructure,
- strengthening European cooperation,
- and promoting ethical and inclusive AI.
GENAI is complemented by other instruments such as StartAI and the European Digital Innovation Hub sustAIn.brussels, which provide companies with guidance, access to testing facilities, and support in their digital and sustainable transition.
New calls in development
The success of this funding call highlights the growing interest of Brussels companies in artificial intelligence. Innoviris is already preparing new calls to enable even more companies to unlock their innovation potential.
Through these initiatives, Innoviris and the Brussels-Capital Region aim to position Brussels as a leading European hub for responsible, innovative, and inclusive AI.
