Science and technology are all around us. Yet not everyone automatically gets the chance to learn about them. Science outreach makes science accessible, stimulates curiosity and teaches children, young people and adults to look at the world critically.
This mission is more relevant today than ever. The PISA results show that the scientific literacy of young people in Belgium is under pressure. Experiencing and discovering science, even outside the school environment, can help to strengthen their interest and engagement.
In Brussels, more than 100 local organisations are committed to this cause. They organise workshops, summer camps, exhibitions, talks and other activities centred on science and technology. From children carrying out their first experiments to young people and adults exploring current issues: there is plenty to discover for all ages and interests.
To make it easier to find what’s on offer, Innoviris has brought these science promoters together in an online catalogue.
Anyone wishing to find out which organisations are active in their own neighbourhood or on a particular theme will find an overview there. Via the link to each organisation’s website, it is also immediately clear what’s on offer: from current activities to new initiatives. The catalogue also includes a number of organisations from outside Brussels that organise activities in the Brussels region.
